Put your model in Minecraft Java

Forge turns your model into the kind of Minecraft file that fits it. You do not need to know which; the download picks the right one and the README.txt says what to do. Minecraft Java only; Bedrock is not supported yet.

What you can get

Your modelWhat Download for Minecraft givesNeeds mods?
A sword, tool, item or hatOne resource pack, resource-pack-<name>.zip. You get it in game with /give; a hat is worn with a right-clickNo
A decoration, statue or creature, with animationsA ZIP with a README and two packs: a resource pack and a data pack that places and plays itNo
Anything, as a finished modA mod .jar for Forge, NeoForge or Fabric (with GeckoLib for creatures)Yes, the loader

The window only offers the Minecraft versions that work for that file (on 2026-11-04 the model pages list 26.3, 26.2, 26.1 and 1.21.11 for the data pack; 26.3, 26.2 and 1.21.11 for the resource pack; 26.2 and 1.21.11 for mod files).

Steps: a resource pack (items, tools, hats)

  1. Press Download for Minecraft (build page or My assets) or pick Minecraft Java on a model page. Copy the /give command with Copy /give beside the download.

  2. Open your Minecraft folder: Windows + R, paste %APPDATA%\.minecraft, Enter (Mac: Finder, Go, Go to Folder, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft).

  3. Put the ZIP, still zipped, in the resourcepacks folder (make it if it is missing), or drop it on the Resource Packs screen.

  4. In the game: Options, Resource Packs, click the pack so it moves to the right, then Done.

  5. Turn cheats on and paste the /give command in chat.

Steps: a data pack and resource pack (animated models, no mods)

  1. Download and unzip it once. Inside: a README and two ZIPs. Keep those two zipped.

  2. Move the resource pack into resourcepacks and switch it on (Options, Resource Packs, move it to the right, Done).

  3. Add the data pack to a world. New world: More, Data Packs, Open Pack Folder, drop it in, turn it on. Existing world: your world's datapacks folder (in saves), then type /reload.

  4. Use the command from the README to spawn it and play its animations.

Steps: a mod

  1. Download and unzip it once. Inside: README.txt and a mods folder with <name>.jar. Keep the .jar as it is.

  2. Install the loader the README names (Forge, NeoForge or Fabric; Fabric also needs Fabric API; a creature needs GeckoLib). With the CurseForge app, Modrinth App or Prism Launcher, make an instance with that loader and version.

  3. Put the .jar in the mods folder (%APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods).

  4. Start Minecraft with the loader's installation, open a world with cheats on and paste the command from README.txt. A creature gives you a spawn egg.

  5. Playing on a server: the server and every player need the same Myrlin files.

What it costs

Free for your own models, every format and version, as often as you like.

If it does not work

  • The pack shows as incompatible

Check the Minecraft version you chose under Change matches your game, then download again.

  • Nothing happens when you type /give or the command

Cheats must be on (or op on a server); for the data pack it must be switched on for the world and /reload must have run.

  • It is a pink and black box

The resource pack is not on. Options, Resource Packs, move it to the right.

  • It does not move

An item you hold is still. For an animated one use the statue or creature under More ways to use it in Minecraft.

  • Minecraft says a mod is missing

README.txt lists what the mod needs (the loader, Fabric API, GeckoLib). Put each .jar in mods and start again.

  • The mod is not in the Mods list

Put the .jar itself in mods, not the ZIP and not a folder, and start the loader's installation, not the plain release.

  • More: forge.myrlin.io/minecraft#install.
