Hytale model guides
Plain guides for making Hytale models: what the files are, the limits they have to respect, and what to check when something does not show. Each one cites Hytale’s own posts and docs and uses real files you can download.
The guides
- The .blockymodel format, explained
What is inside a Hytale model file, how the PNG texture connects to it, and what a .blockyanim clip holds.
- Hytale model limits and rules
The 255-node limit, texture sizes in multiples of 32 px, Character or Prop density, stretch and shading.
- Model or texture not showing
Why a texture does not load in Blockbench, or a model does not appear in the game, and what to check.
- Open a .blockymodel and PNG in Blockbench
A step-by-step walkthrough with a real downloadable model and texture.
- What happened to the Hytale Model Maker
The tool Hytale showed in 2019, what replaced it, and what modders use to make models today.
The tools you need
- Blockbench, on desktop or in the web app.
- The Hytale Models plugin, installed from File → Plugins in Blockbench. It reads and writes .blockymodel and .blockyanim files.
- Hytale itself, for the in-game Asset Editor and for testing. The game is on 0.7.2 (Update 7) as of 17 October 2026.
Hytale’s own introduction to making models and its asset pack docs are the primary sources these guides build on.
Start from a model instead of a blank project
Myrlin Studio makes Hytale models with AI: describe one or show a picture, and you get an editable .blockymodel with its PNG texture, and saved .blockyanim clips when the model has animations, to open in Blockbench. Start a Hytale model, browse the gallery, or read what Studio makes for Hytale and the current pricing.
Facts checked on 17 October 2026 against Hytale’s posts and docs for 0.7.2 (Update 7) and the source of the Hytale Models plugin 0.11.0 for Blockbench, not tested in the game. Hytale renames files and nodes between updates, so check the patch notes for anything newer.
